Dear Ninja and Trouble,
Taking a small liberty with this week’s theme, let me introduce you to Carl. Carl is a taxidermied blowfish, and while he is not a toy per se, my family treats him like one. When we are at our beach house, Carl can be found having tea parties with the kids, occupying a seat while we play board games, or waiting patiently in a dark closet, ready to scare the shit out of you.
My family are typical WASPs. Uptight, conservative, and close lipped. But they use Carl as their agent of surprise, joy, and revenge. So maybe he is more coping mechanism than toy. He’s the family fixture that has been making us laugh and squeal for over 20 years, and while Carl has been in a myriad of situations, I don’t think he’s ever been in a picture with a nekkid woman before. Atta boy, Carl.
Have a lovely weekend!
What a fun take on today’s theme. I’ve always liked having taxidermy around because of the personalities they end up developing. I can’t even imagine trying to taxidermy a blowfish, what a feat. Compositionally this submission really stuck out to me. I really like the colour balance between your blonde hair and Carl’s underbelly. It looks like you two are deep in conversation. The slight lift in your feet really adds to your pose as well. Thanks for sharing your family pet. Many more years with Carl I’m sure.
